My Texas teardrops are down!

If you look to the side of my blog there is a BOM going on called Texas Teardrops and if you click on it you will go to the place that has all the excitement going on about this awesome quilt.  I loved it the first time I saw it and  managed to get all the blocks down now when I get it stitched is another story.  There is actually 24 blocks and I have them all down just none stitched yet.  I do not even know how I am going to do that yet let alone quilt it...lol  Time will tell...

I did get a few other things done but one is a gift and cannot show it yet and the other is for a hop so cannot show that yet either...

Wonder whose block this is?

I am in a  block exchange and before I had my surgery I managed to get a few commitments that I had, finished.  Here is a block that i wanted to get done so I did not get behind and really like the block..It is called "Evening Star"...enjoy

Starting to have a clearer head now...

Thanks to everyone for taking a gander at my pom pom dress for my grandbaby...she just thinks she is the prettiest thing out there and you know what i say 'why not' she is one of them....Also a big thank you to all of you for your concern, thoughts and good wishes on my outpatient surgery....i am at least not as fuzzy as i was and i will not be doing any hand stitching until  i can at least use those 3 fingers on the right hand which i see him on the 6th and we will go from there....it could have been much worse i guess...he could have wrapped the whole thing but said he  wanted to leave me some mobility so i could quilt  him a wall hanging for his office....we will see how i completely heal first for that...lol  This was the fingers that i broke back in august and the only way to get full use of them again is to get them broke and reset with a pin.  We just had to wait and let me recoup from the other stuff......lol  I am typing with my left hand only sew excuse any errors i might have....have a great weekend everyone.......
And remember our PomPom bloghop continues on Monday....

Shake your PomPom's Day & a give a-way!

First I have to say that I only have done 2 things with pom poms and that was for a costume along time ago so I racked my brain trying to think of what to do.  The only other person that I know of that really enjoys having them was my grandbaby, Phalynn so this is what I made for her with her help of course.  I think we  have a little creative person inside of this little girl.
Thanks to Thearica for being a wonderful cheerleader and Madame Samm for always stretching our creative side....

First I wanted to make Phalynn a summer dress which is what I did and she loves it.  She wanted the pom poms a little bigger but her Daddy had an opinion on that one so we went with the little pom poms....

then she needed a head band to match and she wanted all the colors in her dress so we painted the headband blue glitter because she also likes bling and this is what we came up with oh and she needs a hanger to match her dress plus now grandmom is in the process of making a purple one, pink one and blue one, but they are not finished yet.....Phalynn also wanted her lite switch in her room changed so why not pom poms.  Her room is Pink, purple and white so we covered her lite switch.

I  also made her a summer patch quilt in the same colors but not adding pom poms to it so it did not count for here.
So due to this swap Phalynn is a very happy little girl and why not she loves dresses and the color pink.  Here is a pic of them all together and then my sweet 4 year old grand daughter Phalynn..
Please visit the other ladies who joined me today and I love give a ways so how about 3 Spring like FQ's,  I have not picked them yet but they will be pretty...I will not get back to anyone during the day as I am having surgery as most of you are reading this but it is day surgery and hopefully I will be awake by this evening and home to cheer all my co-bloggers and say hello to all that have commented...have a wonderful day.

A beautiful Sunrise was gifted to us..

We had a wonderful time at a retreat that was put together by our friend Sandi Suggs and 147 pics later I have to tell you one of the best retreats I was ever on.  It was held in Scottsboro, AL, our little getaway was held at the Grand Oaks Retreat and there were 14 of us connected by needle, fabric and  thread joined with old  friends and  even made new friends, I ask you what is better than that?    We had such a wonderful time in the 3+ days we spent together.  I will post more photos later in the week but we were given such a special gift by God for our last day there that I had to share the pics.  These were taken about 5:03 AM and there after...please enjoy and remember to look around you for we have an abundance of natural beauty all around us.

April Shower's We have a winner....

Gina if you will send me your info I will get my little gift out to you!!!
Some of what Gina has said was she needs to have a little fun!!!!!

Well Gina I hope you do get to have some fun and get back to coloring.....

First let me say  "thank you" to  Erin for being our cheerleader and putting this wonderful blog hop together also  to Madame Samm for always keeping us on our toes and opening our eyes to new and inspiring ways to show our creative side.
If you read my blog you know that I have been trying new methods to work on fabric and recently I tried coloring on fabric with crayon and I just love it but in all honesty I have tried 3 different crayons 2 were generic and then crayola.  All 3 times the crayola came out on top.  The other two faded the more I ironed it.  And you have to iron it to get the wax out so it can be washed. ( no affiliation just use of product)
What you do is decide on your pattern and simply color it pretty heavily like saturated with color.  I then ironed it on brown paper bags, oh I guess about 5 times or maybe 6 until all the wax is out and there is no more showing on the paper bag.  Then to make sure you can wash it or sit something wet on it in this case you hand wash it which is what I have done and the color looks wonderful, I think.  So without further  commenting here is my 2 mug rugs that I decided to do:
When I first read about this theme I thought of an umbrella with a pair of boots and then a beautiful bright flower and that is exactly what I colored and here they are:

I couldn't resist putting them in the flower bed because that means that warmer weather has finally reached Chattanooga!
and then here is a closer shot of each one.
You cannot see what I wrote and then stitched over because I used a peach color thread but it just says April showers bring beautiful flowers!
then

this one I drew the umbrella and boots on there and colored then stitched around them in black, used a stitch off of the sewing machine to make raindrops and puddles

All in all it was allot of fun and I am all about fun these days!
Now for the giveaway:
how about  a box of Crayola crayons and a pack of 2.0 finished thangles.  This way you get to have some fun and color too.
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting with me.  I have an early appointment and will not be back until afternoon so I will try to peek in if I can before then but please enjoy this last day of our very fun hop.  Here is our schedule for our last day!

Just a little update....

Good Morning!  I just wanted those to know this little tidbit.  Since I am a joiner of BOM's and blog hops I might be out of commission for a little bit.  On the 25th I have to have the finger that I broke on my right hand back in August, re-broke!  I know it is an ouch and I really am trying to not think about it that much.  But I am right handed and have not been able to do that much hand stitching or really use my right hand for much of anything.  So according to the hand specialist if i ever want to use it again I need to get this done, so I am.  I will never really be able to make a fist again or close my hand tightly but I will be able to use it, so that being said....I just wanted you all to know....Have a great day and it is suppose to be a stormy day here in Chattanooga.....hope no matter what the weather is where you are, your day is filled with sunshine!

Skill Builder QAYG BOM block 5 set 3 for Pile O' Fabric

We are on set 3 of the quilt as you go bom for Pile O' Fabric so this is actually the 5th block called the
Woven Star..they are getting a little tricky but I think it came out pretty good now all I have to do is quilt it.

March block for Mill St Sampler

I finished my blocks for the March Sampler class that I am in and well forgot to post them so I am doing it now.  This quilt will be set on point and is nothing but piecing.  That is why I took the class this year to work with small pieces and I have never done a quilt on point so I figured it was time to learn.  All in all I think they came out pretty good....enjoy

Sharing some pics from our Easter

My Easter day went wonderful.  We had 13 people for dinner and it went well.  Believe it or not my dh was in charge of the camera and forgot to take pics with everyone here so we managed to take just  a few before anyone arrived.  I truly hope you all had a wonderful day and got to share it with loved ones.  My daughter in law, Samantha, made the cake and everything on it, even the grass was editable.  The flowers were from my Daughter, Leigh-Anne and Jeremy; my Son, Gene and Samantha.  I hope you made some wonderful family memories also.

Back to Square One- April

I am liking very much this Medallion quilt we are working on.  This is what we had to do for the April 1st post and it is the first time I see all the colors together...I was not sure about the blue but now that I have this together I am really liking it.  It is a mystery that Judy and Vicki  have put together for us this year  and if you just click on the names it will take you there to see all the stuff that they have going on for quilters.  Vicki has some wonderful hand dyes that are just lovely and Judy has tons of projects to keep everyone busy.  This time I have managed to stay on top of it and this is what it looks like at the moment...have a great day.
