Well it is the "after" days of AQS

We had AQS here this year and all I can tell you is "wow"!  It was like a huge quilt party.  We got to see so many quilters that we have not seen in awhile; we got to meet new people and make new friends; we got to see all the lovely beautiful quilts; shop at the venders area; see the new and exciting wonders of the quilting world; I got to meet Gail Garber who is a wonderful teacher, Linda Hahn who does things with the New York Beauty that I have never saw, Karen Combs who creates beautiful celtic pieced illusions and many more.
We had many more venues in Chattanooga where local quilters got to show off their creative side such as: The Aquarium;  Creative Discovery Museum; Southern Belle Riverboat; Hamilton Place Mall; Bessie Smith Cultural Center; Chattanooga WorkSpace  and I could go on.  Chattanooga was just filled with quilters and their creativity.  If you did not get a chance to join us we will have AQS here for 2 more years at least so think about coming to visit next year and see how the red carpet is rolled out for AQS and all the creative energy we have in our city. I will follow up with the dates for next year event.  For now I will leave you with some wonderful photos of this truly wonderful event.

I hope you enjoyed just a drop of what we here in Chattanooga had to offer....

One week to go & Hamilton Place Mall

Well we have one week to go till AQS arrives and we here in Chattanooga will have a wonderful tribute to all quilters.  There will be different venues that will have local quilt artist  who have done all kinds of quilts displayed all through the city.  One of the ladies here that has been a valuable  and driving  force putting this "all over the Chattanooga" area together is Sandi Suggs.  Here is a sneak peek of around 50 quilts that are displayed in our local Mall here in Chattanooga.  If you are visiting and find your way to Hamilton Place Mall you will see them.  It was a great display Sandi, thank you!

Saying Hello finally and AQS in Chattanooga

Howdy out there...I hope you all have a great weekend!  I think my blog is working now, yeah!  We have been super busy here getting Chattanooga ready for the AQS extravaganza that will soon be here in September plus you know the usual stuff.....but the usual stuff isn't that wonderful to post about so I am going to post a few pics of what I have been working on lately..

In our Modern Guild we set out to do a project to include the TN River.  Joan did a wonderful job of hosting this program with a few other people involved, it was pulled together without a hitch...kuddos to you all.  The project was doing a small wall hanging of the TN River.  I think there were 23 of us involved and we all had a piece of the TN River to put into a quilt.  I cannot wait for you all to see it.  The quilts will be displayed in the TN Aquarium during AQS week here in Chattanooga.  It will be hung as it is really laid out according to the map.  It will be an awesome site to see so if you are on the fence about coming to Chattanooga for AQS, this is in addition to AQS and it will be worth the trip.  There will also be other places in Chattanooga that will be hosting quilt shows.  I will see what more info I can gather and post an update as much as I can.  If you do decide to come let me know I would love to catch up with you and say Hello...
so in closing stay tuned!

Some things I have done lately

I have been trying to find out why no one could comments on my blog.  Thank you to those who have emailed me saying they could not leave a comment.  I don't know if I have fixed the problem yet so if anyone wants to help by leaving a comment and seeing if it goes through please do so.  Here are some things I have done recently it has been a slow process but I am getting there.  Have a super day!

In our Modern guild we have a block challenge once a month and in the month of May it was the disappearing nine patch.  Anyone that wants to enter can get 3 chances a month to be in the drawing for the blocks that were entered, if you win you have to put those blocks into a quilt or something as long as you use them before you can add yourself into another BOM

These were my ATC cards for the month of June the theme we are using is deck of cards and we have one more month to wor on that theme.  June was the Royal cards and now this month will be 2 thru 10..

After winning some of the disappearing 9 patch blocks this is the cuddle quilt I put together with them.

This is a class we had at our modern guild.  It was a wonderful class done by Vanessa and the toilet-re bag turned out great.

Modern Challenge

I wanted to post a pic of the challenge fabric we were given at out guild and what I did with it.  At our Modern guild we were given  what I think was fat eights  of Michael Millers Petal Pinwheels collection.  We were asked to make something with it and we could add a solid or another Miller fabric if we wanted to.  I chose to do a little what I call a "pocket purse" it is not real big but cute and could be used as a quick go to bag or sewing bag or whatever.
On another note I will probably have to start another blog but will keep you posted...thanks for sticking with me.
