My Daughters table runner

I finally finished the binding on my daughters table runner and her rope basket.  Leigh-Anne's whole house is beige, creams, black and other colors brought in through baskets, spices, fruits etc.  She loves lines so that is the background and it was wonderful to work with.  I also used Kate Spain's fabrics and a Kona for the binding.
Also she loves the rope baskets  and I did make her a creamy one for her living room but she always loved this one that I had which is dark blues with other colors mixed.  Her bedroom is blue so I did make her one for her bedroom that is a mixture of blue, greens, purples some reds mostly Kona solids but there are some prints in there.....anyway I think she will be happy with it....Enjoy your wonderful holiday weekend...

Sneek Peek

Here is a sneak peek at a few things I am working on for our Pincushion blog hop that will be happening at "Sew We Quilt" starting on Sept. 10th and running through to Sept. 17th so please visit Madame Samm to see all the wonderful blog hops she offers.  Right now there is a Hexie one going on and since I have a few friends that are into doing hexies the eye candy is very inspiring and you will definitely get some ideas from this blog hop.......and if I don't chat with you before then I will see you on my pincushion day which is the 11th to see what I came up with for our pincushion swap....

Binding 2 cuddle quilts

Good morning!  I finished my one cuddle quilt and now just need to put the binding down.  And I never did find the owner of the other purple cuddle quilt so maybe I did do it all and just do not remember it from that time in my life..lol but I just need to finish that binding and I will be turning them into the guild.  I did want to post the pics now since I will not be able to make the meeting I must get them to someone who is going... These both will go to the Ronald McDonald House here in Chattanooga.  In doing the yellow one we were suppose to cut 3 different 1 yard pieces and we should have gotten 3 different quilts out of them but for some reason it did not happen that way for me.  I had to make the pieces fit so I got one and that was good enough for me.  I hope you have a great day.

There is Ms Sassie and boy did I ever get the name right for her.  She is my 2 year old Pomeranian and fits her name like a hand in a glove.

Actually our kids tell us we treat them like they are people but to us they are part of our family!  Have a good night all.

One of the best things about summer...

Our little garden that we decided to grow in pots this year is in full bloom and we have been getting tomatoes, green/sweet and jalapeno peppers and our Rose of Sharon is in full bloom.  This is one of the things I love about summer and miss very much during the winter.  You cannot beat fresh fruit and veggies....Enjoy your day!

New Color Study class

I started my new Color Study class over at Craftsy today with a friend of mine.   She has us painting on index cards and the first part of the class was using yellow and blue to get to turquoise.  It was allot of fun and at first I really didn't think that the painting on the index cards was necessary but I do have to say that seeing the colors as you added just a tad bit of blue each time was a real eye opener for me.  I am a visual learner but I really didn't think that the painting part was going to make a big difference but I was really surprised at how the colors changed and all of a sudden we had shades of  green and then  shades of blue it was a good time and a great experience so I will continue with the painting lessons first as she suggest.  Here is a sample of what we did from yellow & blue.
Oh if anyone is interested on my side panel on your left is the class I am taking "Color Play" at Craftsy just click on it for more info....have a great night...

Pizza Box Block

I guess it won't hurt to post my pizza block now since guild is Wednesday.  In one of my guilds we are doing a pizza block exchange.  It is where anyone who wants to be involved puts 6 pcs. (1) yard each in a pizza box.  Then one of our leaders has
written a mystery and we get basically a chapter a month.  After she reads that chapter there is a hint of which block we are to do that month, for instance this month it was pinwheels.  Everyone does a pinwheel in whomever's  box they have and then we have show and tell and the boxes are rotated to the next person.  It has been really fun and everyone seems to be enjoying it and all the blocks are wonderful.  This month I had Rachel's and of course she has a golden, yellowish batik, yum......I just had to use it then I chose 2 other fabrics she had and this is her block...it is called "Rangers Pride", have a great night....

Garden Gate blocks

Morning everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend...I had our Modern quilt guild meeting on Saturday and did manage to get the Garden Gate blocks that I won in June made into a top and showed it for show an tell.  I am going to try and quilt it right away and not put it in my pile that has grown.  I am still debating on what to do with he blocks themselves though.  I have decided that where the circle fabric is I will do lines and where the line fabric is (white) I will do circles but I am stumped with he blocks themselves...any ideas would be appreciated..Have a great day.

On a more serious note:

In cleaning out my sewing room, and yes there are a few areas I didn't get to like in the chest and all that but I did come across one thing that might be of importance to someone.  This baby quilt it is 39" square and mainly teal and purple.  Here is a pic

The reason I am showing this is because many of you know that I had chemo and radiation last year.  There are times when I still have what they call "chemo fog" which is from what I understand due to the many drugs involved with all the drugs, my memory does not work with some words and actually some things that went on right before all the drugs and during.  It is getting better but from what I have heard it will be awhile and since I am a diabetic it might be longer.  It is pretty frustrating sometimes but I am trying to deal with it.  Any way this is not meant to be a whiny note to you all it is meant to be a happy note for someone, I hope!  I do not remember anything about this quilt.  I do not remember making it, these are not my usual colors,  There is an octagon that is appliqued in the center (which looks pretty kool) but this is not my doing at all.  Now I have asked a few close friends that were around me then if they remember me doing it and they said no, so here it my question.  During that time some people gave me there baby quilts to bind cause it did not take much energy and I could complete that task but this one I do not remember anything.  I can tell you that not all the binding is stitched down which I will complete but I need to know who to give it back to.  I know some of  our guild members read my blog so I am posting a pic of it here first and then I will think of a next step if I do not get anywhere here.....thanks for taking the time...you are appreciated!

Good Monday morning.

Well I finished straightening out my fabric shelves.  The only ones I did not do are my FQ's and I will get to them eventually...but now it is time for some over-due fun...

On another note I picked out my favorite jelli roll print, now I do not know what I am going to do with it yet but something!!!
Have a great day!
