A better view of my sewing room.

Well I did take some pictures of my sewing room and I do have most of the piles straightened out and boy was it a mess.  Now please ignore the fabric areas because I am still working on those but my hands had enough and I just needed to not do anything with them for about a day and a half now so hopefully I will finish folding and straightening out the fabric areas by Tuesday.  If not I will be visiting my friend at her house again and I was trying to have her over here but we shall see I may need another week before I can do that but I am trying...so here is a peek at where I spend most of my fun time...have a goodnight all.  Most everything on the walls was either made for me, by me or I may have won on a blog.  The little pink one was made for me by my friend Brenda and it says "Be Happy", the  sewing machine quilt in the wall was made for me by my friend Linda and the one over the chair was made for me by my friend Sandi .  I just cannot keep that one out right now since Sandi will be using it for a class she is doing but I wanted to add it to my fun room truly filled with things I love and people I care very much about like, friends, family and my blogging  family.   When I  have a rough day or down moment I come in my room and look around and know that I am truly blessed...thank you all very much!  Like I said please ignore the fabric shelves as they are getting cleaned out also and will be stacked everywhere in the room tomorrow...thanks for taking a peek.

I took some of today and played

No I do not have any pictures of a clean room yet but they are coming.  I just was so tired of it that today was a gelli plate day.  My friend, Gayle and I have wanted to work with gelli plates and monochromatic painting on fabric.  We were trying to get together to do it but it just didn't work out so she was doing some at her house and I was doing some at my house.  It was just what I needed to lift my spirits.  I made the gelli plate myself and watched a bunch of you-tube videos on it and if you go to gelliarts.com you will find allot of info about it there.  By the end of the afternoon I learned a lot more than I knew in the beginning and hopefully the next round will be better,,,actually I think it is all about layering but I may not be right since I have only done it once so far...here are some of my fabrics that I did...I will post the others in a day or so because tomorrow is back to my room and hopefully near completion.  Have a good night and thanks for visiting.

    What a mess....

Some of you may have already read that I have been trying to get my sewing room straightened out so I can have my friends over again.  We have been meeting mostly at Linda's house and then also meeting at Sandi's but due to my hand surgery and then my leg it has been awhile since I have been able to really get in there and start getting rid of some stuff and moving stuff around.  I did have a group meeting today with some of my lady friends and I had my hubby home also who could help me move my stuff around and since he does work allot I chose to start my messy sewing room.  Anyway I am posting a few of my messy room pictures then hopefully tomorrow night I can post a few of nice clean and cleaned out sewing room.  I truly feel if you do not feel comfortable in your sewing room it stunts your creativity and to tell you the truth I am ready to be over my stunting period and move into my creativity  growth period.....hopefully I will be back with better pictures real soon...have a good night everyone.  This is actually pretty embarrassing but it is all part of growing so here ya' go....There were a few more areas but I just could not even take pics of those areas....

    More sun dyeing

I did a few more sun dyeing with leaves and feathers.  Some of the leaves came out ok but not the feathers so much.  I am also wondering if the green from the leaves dyes on the fabric also.  So I am going to try one more day of it and see what happens then i will just use some of what I have...have a great night everyone..

    Sun Dyeing results

I like the results of the sun dyeing that I did.  I also added little circles and some yarn and different things like that..here they are
This one sat under the glass in the front yard about 4 hours.  It
also looks more white on the blog but actually it is more of a tan color

This one sat under glass in the back yard for about 3 hours.  This is
    pretty much true to color.

    enjoy your evening!!!!

    Giving it a try...

Morning all...Chattanooga has sun, yeah!!!!!  So I am not going to waste one minute of it.  I am going to try some sun dyeing today.  What I did is used PFD fabric and then soaked it with a spray bottle filled with water.  I then used some jacquard paint along with acrylic with a fabric medium in it and just layered until my heart was content.  I then took some things I had handy and had some different shape to them put them on top of the painted fabric and topped that with a piece of glass and now it is in the sun and I am trying to be very patient to see if it works or what it does to tell you the truth...here are a couple of pics of preparing the fabric and then I will show you later what happen with it in the sun...
I know I am in the middle of cleaning my sewing room but I just had to take a break for fun and sun...now I will get bake to the regular scheduled program...have a great day.

Spiral table runner or wall hanging

Just wanted to share my latest finish.  I did manage to finish my spiral and I think it will be a wall hanging for me.  I just like it on the wall better than the table...I will be making a few of these...it just all came together nicely. and that little piece in the center, the yellow, gray, black and white one was what I based all my other fabric choices on and it turned out nicely, I think.  Have a goodnight everyone.

Stamp on It blog hop day #4

The winner for the Moda charm pack is none other then...Pat:

The Chattanooga Choo-Choo ... adorable! I love it. Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win, too ... :) Pat

Pat please email me with your info and I will get it out to you.....I have left you a message on your blog.

Thanks for stopping in everyone and have a wonderful holiday.....

What a wonderful hop this has been.  I really struggled with what I wanted to do.  Since I love shoes and handbags I was going to do that but then thought differently.  So what I did decide on was taking something from my state of TN  that most people are aware of here in Chattanooga and see if I could put it on a stamp.  Here is a little history on the Chattanooga ChooChoo:

Thanks to Thearica for being a wonderful cheerleader and Madame Samm for such a wonderful fun filled blog hop and being a great hostess also to our sponsors. Please go and visit with my fellow stampers today and let them know you were there.

    I am assuming we all know the song "Chattanooga Choo-Choo which actually was song by allot of people;
for one Glenn Miller  put it to music back in the 40's which was about a train trip from Pennsylvania Station New York City through to the terminal Station in Chattanooga.  But what I did not know is that it was also sung by  many, many people such as; Andrews Sisters, Ray Charles, Harry Connick, Jr., The Muppets  and Elvis Presley just to name a few.

Per Wikipedia It was  a former railroad station, once owned and operated by the Southern Railway, listed on the National Register of Historic PlacesThe original Chattanooga Union Station was built in 1858 but continually was too small with the expansion of passenger  use and had to be rebuilt a few times.
The station was re-opened in 1909 and was the latest and largest station in Chattanooga's history.  After the decline of the railroad traffic in the 50's and 60's the last train to leave the station happened in 1970.  Then it was bought by local business's and renamed Chattanooga Choo Choo.  Today the 24 acre complex is a convention center, hotel resort with restaurants and shops.  You can stay in a half of a restored passenger railway car; the restaurant is in the terminal station itself.  And the "Dinner in the Diner" is the complex's fine dining venue housed in a restored 1938 Class A dining car.  There is much more info out there if anyone is interested.  After all this ( and thank you for staying with me)here is my little art quilt depicting the Chattanooga Choo Choo:

There is many layers to this 15" x 15" stamp.  I started with duck and added a coat of modge podge then layered the fabric for the scenery, ink dyed  it  to take some of the starkness out of it and quilted it.  I appliqued the train and tracks down used buttons for the wheels, angelina for the smoke from the stack on the train then added the state and stamp markings all in jacquard pearlesence paint.
If you stayed with me this long then you certainly deserve to be in a drawing of some kind .. Since the 4th of July is in a few days I will make this the prize for one lucky person at the end of the blog hop,..good luck and thanks for visiting..
