Next 2 Skill-builder bom

I am in the Skill-builder bom this year because I would love to learn more about modern quilting and the Quilt As you Go Method...We have already done the first 2 blocks and now we moved on to the second two and here they are....

Actually the 2 on the right are the first 2 after they were quilted I will look for a pic of those so you can see them and the ones that I just finished are on the left and we will have our next fmq lesson on them starting next week...take care

St. Paddy's Day PC

I have made a few St. Paddy's Day Post cards that I am swapping with a few friends and I wanted to post a pic of the second one I sent because I forgot to post a pic of the first one...lol  I almost forgot this one and already had it in its sleeve before I remembered so I hope you like it.

I wish I would have remembered to take it before I was walking out the door because it has so much that was done on it.  I stitched all around it, coat, hat rainbow, gold pieces and  pot you get the picture; then I added fabric paint to the gold pieces to make them stand out more the bow tie and cuff and the hat, beard and jacket; then added stardust glitter from the top of the rainbow and all through the gold pieces it is a shame you really cannot see the effect that the glitter made.  I then added charms and sequins just to add some extra bling for my friend the leprechaun.  To finish him off I added ribbon to the front and back and then cut around it in little cuts to give it almost a little feathery look around the border....I am very pleased with it and it was worth all the time and effort.  I just hope she likes it as much as I do.....have a great night.

We are home!

Thank you for all your prayer, wishes and good thoughts that you all sent my DH's way, we are home!  He has been put on meds, has a few more tests but for right now they said he is lucky that he was having TIA's which are referred to as warning strokes.  So things will need to change which for me is not a problem I have learned to go with the flow but for him it may be a different story we will see.  But thanks again.  Have a great evening....

New camera and Mill St Sampler blocks

Morning all.....My brother gave me a new camera and I just love it.  I have taken the last few pictures with it and they come out so much nicer than my other one.  Speaking of my brother he is doing better having a few problems here and there but on a whole he is better than he was.  Thanks again for all the well wishes and good thoughts....
I am in a Mill Street Sampler class at our LQS this year and so far I have not been able to get to January or February's class but I am hoping March will be better but here is a pic of our first months blocks...it is the Basket block:
I have been saving batiks for years now so I am hoping to do this quilt in all batiks.  Actually this year I am all about using my stash and so far I have been able too...Yeah!

Mardi Gras Post Card swap

In one of my art groups we had a Mardi Gras post card swap and this is a pic of the ones I mailed out.  I have 2 original masks from a Mardi Gras years ago so I tried to take some of the design from them.  It was allot of fun....enjoy your day!

Madrona Road Challenge from the Chattanooga MQG

Here at the Chattanooga Modern Quilt Guild we elected to join in on the Michael Miller's Madrona Road Fabric Challenge.  We were sent out fabric which Janet  put into handouts along with Kona Snow fabric and sense we are working out of the Quilting Modern book (see previous post) it was decided that we would use the log cabin modern block chapters to construct our own blocks.  They are due at tomorrows meeting so I decided since they were due tomorrow I could go ahead and post a pic now of them.  The first one is the 2 little pods that I really enjoyed making....I  can honestly say that in doing the modern blocks now I have learned some new things the one and only thing I really would rather not do but I am trying to get over it is iron the seams open.  The only reason is because then sometimes when you have a few cuts in the block then the block really does not want to lie flat like when you put them to one side.....enjoy your evening!

Winter Mug Rug swap

Good Morning to all....For my winter theme mug rug swap I could not think of anything better than Hot Cocoa.... I am in an art group and we were having a swap of mug rugs.  I choose to use a coffe theme fabric just in case my partner did not like cocoa.  I love to add the spoon holder because I know I like to stir mine every now and then to keep the warm chocolate taste through the whole chocolate moment.  Have a wonderful day.

Modern Pod Blocks

I belong to a modern quilt guild and we are working out of the book titled "Quilting Modern" by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen.  The book has many interesting ways to do all different blocks and one of them is for this Pod block.  Here is my practice block:
Now this was my very first try at it and if you click on the link below or on the title of this post, it is a friend of mine and she has written a wonderful tutorial on it ( also please check out her whole blog because she gives the most helpful hints and has done some amazing quilts you will be glad you went there)  She also told me to go slow and it will come together.  Well she is a wonderful teacher because for my very first time doing the block it came out just fine, don't you think?  Have a great night!

Frogpond Studio: MAKING "POD" BLOCKS

Valentine PC's

Well I belong to an art group that had a post card exchange for Valentine's day and here is what I sent out.  I collect all things "Betty Boop" so of course this is what I had to use for my pc's.....

Brother is home

Yes he is.....We brought him home today and I think it will do him allot of good to be there.  He will still have to take some oxygen for a little bit but hopefully it will not be for too long.  Thanks for all your good wishes and prayers I truly believed it is what helped him  to get better.  Now maybe I can post a few things I have been working on....have a great day.

Back To Square One, block 1

I have managed to get a little stitching done while I waited for my brother and I also wanted to post my first block for the BOM  that is going on over at http://www.patchworktimes.com...Have a great night

Brother is doing wonderful

Thank you to all of you who have sent prayers and good thoughts our way.  My brother did have his surgery yesterday and has already been put in a step down unit which is just unheard of on the first full day after surgery.  So there is no doubt that the Lord was guiding the surgeons hands.  He still has a way to go but he is doing whatever he is told by the nurses and then some, I am very proud of him.  Actually I have been at the hospital with him until about 4:30 today so now I am going to soak in the rub and then go to bed myself.  I just wanted to thank everyone.....you are very special people in my life.
